Winter is coming! Boot cuffs are great for the colder seasons. I love the look of cables and this pattern is very simple to create. This is a great project for a beginner!
Yarn: medium weight; approx. 100 yds [Caron Simply Soft in Plum Perfect]
Size US 8 (5.0 mm) circular 16″
Materials: Cable Needle [paper clip]
Scissors & needle
16 sts & 22 rows = 4 inches
Circumference- 10 inches
Length- 5 inches
Pattern Notes: My calves measure 14 inches around so these boot cuffs do stretch when worn. Please adjust the number of stitches to the size boot cuffs you need. This pattern consists of a stitch count with a multiple of 8.
Loosely CO 40 stitches. Join the round & place stitch marker.
Begin 2×2 rib pattern:
6 Rounds: *K2, P2*
Begin cable pattern:
Rounds 1-4: *P2, K4, P2*
Round 5: *P2, C4B, P2*
Round 6: *P2, K4, P2*
Continue rounds 1-6 for desired length.
Begin 2×2 ribbing:
5 Rounds: *K2, P2*
Bind off: *K2tog through the back loop, Put stitch back on left needle*
Pull yarn through & sew in ends. Make a second boot cuff the same way.
Pattern Notes: Adjust the number of stitches based on multiples of 8. If your stitches can not fit all the way around the circular needles, this pattern can be knit on straight. You will knit to add 1 knit stitch to each end of your rows so that you can seam up the cuffs at the end.
This pattern is really easy to adjust! If you need to change the stitches be sure to do so in multiples of 8. You can make these rib & cable sections as long as you desire! I made mine as short as possible to save on yarn ^-^
I will definitely be making more boot cuffs this season! I think they make a great gift and they’re quick & simple to make. I absolutely love the cable look and will definitely include them in more of my projects. They are not as tricky as they look 😉
